Martin Stokhof is emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, where he is affiliated with the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) and the Department of Philosophy.
Currently he is part-time Jin Yuelin professor at the Department of Philosophy at Tsinghua University, and member of the Tsinghua University – University of Amsterdam Joint Research Centre for Logic.
Stokhof studied philosophy and linguistics at the University of Amsterdam, where he received his PhD in 1984 on a joint dissertation with Jeroen Groenendijk. He held various positions at the University of Amsterdam, the Radboud University in Nijmegen, and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
